How We Rate
Golf Value Lab separates equipment quality from price. First we evaluate performance. Then we ask whether that performance is worth today's price.
GVL Performance Score
100 points before price enters the equation
Performance Data Review — 50 points
We prioritize comparable testing where multiple clubs are evaluated under the same methodology. Raw launch-monitor numbers from unrelated tests are not simply averaged together.
Forgiveness & Consistency — 30 points
We evaluate comparative forgiveness, dispersion, consistency and performance on imperfect strikes where credible evidence is available.
Real-World Performance — 20 points
Independent source agreement, playability/fitting range, practical translation and material drawbacks make up the real-world component.
Then comes Value Assessment
Current price is compared with the premium benchmark and the performance retained. That produces the value rating and BUY / WAIT / SKIP decision.
Evidence safeguard: if credible independent sources materially conflict, a driver can remain UNRANKED until the evidence is strong enough.
